Everyone has asked me for my hummus recipe. Well here it is. Or what I can remember of it. 🙂 I usually make a batch before going to work and have it with me. Some people love it. Some people hate it, but I do not think they like hummus in the first place. My absolute favorite is the store-bought brand of Sarbi (sp) of Roasted Pine Nut hummus. It is very yummy, try it sometime! But in the mean time, make this to satisfy your craving for something snackable yet healthy. The basic hummus recipe is the same, but you can change the flavoring up by changing the seasonings and add-ins.


1 can chick peas, drained with the juice saved
1 lemon
1 garlic clove
3 tablespoons tahini
3 tablespoons olive oil
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
pinch of pepper
1/4 teaspoon red pepper
1/4 teaspoon cumin

Place the chick peas, garlic, tahini, the zest and juice of one lemon, and one half of the seasonings, in a food processor. Blitz everything for about a minute until everything is chopped up. Then with the motor running add the olive oil and the chick peas juice until it is the desired consistency. Slowly add the juice; I usually only add about 1/4 cup, but you must add to your own desires. Then taste the hummus. Add the rest of the seasonings according to your own taste.

Makes 1 cup.
